Know your roots!
Professional non-linear editing software like Adobe Premiere works a bit differently than iMovie and other consumer-based editors. The most important difference is how a project is built. Footage isn't downloaded directly into the editor; instead, you must create a "root" folder for the footage you'll be using. Once you create the project in Premiere, you'll connect it to the "root" to import footage.

After the import...
Once you've successfully imported your AVCHD footage, create an ID in Blendspace (see directions at left) using your full name. This platform contains a series of graded lessons and tutorials to get us started using Adobe Premiere Pro.
