Job Rotation #5: Two Broadcast Crews = Twice the Fun!
Today you'll email me a Cover Letter applying for your next Crew Position. You may apply for the job you performed in Rotation 1, 2 or 3 (not 4). That doesn't mean you'll get it, though. And beware: Asking for a job because you think "it's easy" is a sure-fire way to get assigned the hardest job I have available. Both Green and Gold team will record announcements--you will take turns creating a show. The rest of your time will be spent on your Investigative Report.
DIRECTIONS: Go to your personal email account. Open a new email (usually under "Compose"). The Subject is "Job Application" for the Subject line of your Email. Make sure the letter starts like this: Dear Ms. Thomas, I am writing to you to apply for the job of....(put in job name) Include the following in your letter:
Sincerely, Your Name Spell check, and submit your email! |
Here are the Jobs you can choose from:
Anchor #1: Read the news. Strong reading ability, diction, calm under pressure. Anchor #2: Read the news. Strong reading ability, diction, calm under pressure. Floor Director: Organize daily recording; “herd” and direct the team, keep on task, and initiate daily sequence. Communicate between Control Booth and Floor teams. Camera #1: Set up and operate Camera for daily recording. Maintain equipment and inventory. Camera #2: Set up and operate Camera for daily recording. White card all cameras for proper white balance. Lighting & Audio Director: Set up and operate lights and mics for daily recording. Maintain equipment and inventory. News & Technical Director: Process daily scripts in preparation for recording; communicate with Activities Director. Utilize Google Docs and other tools. Communicates between Control Room and Floor Director. Initiate countdown sequences, cues and cuts. Daily Joke: Must prepare and deliver school-appropriate Daily Joke on-air 10-second Fun Fact: Must produce a 10-second segment for each broadcast that uses still photos, gifs, video and text to communicate/illustrate a fun and interesting fact for the audience. Must prepare content 2 to 3 days in advance for broadcast. Teleprompter: Process daily script in Teleprompter software, run and pace scripts during recording. TriCaster #1: Principal TriCaster Operator, in control of setup and execution of recording sequence using TriCaster Equipment. TriCaster #2: Supports TriCaster #1 with cueing and communications via Technical Director. Manage upload list and calendar. |

Green Team (News Magazine) Jobs
Each team will have 2 to 3 members.
News Editor: Responsible for deciding on the news-worthiness of the proposed report, managing team deadlines, approving materials and scheduling upload/broadcast of Final Results. Will oversee the creation of the News Magazine Show for our 2nd YouTube Channel. Team 1: School- or Student-related issues Reporter: Develops Essential Question and identifies Target Audience for the story. Writes interview questions and conducts research; proofs script with News Editor. Producer: Responsible for outreach, gathering resources, scheduling interviews and shoots. Must be organized and good at communication. Technician: Operates all equipment (Camera/Tripod/Mic) during recording; responsible for prepping/practicing with equipment prior to recording interviews, stand-ups, or cover footage. Scouts locations for all recording. Team 2: Arts and Entertainment Reporter: Develops Essential Question and identifies Target Audience for the story. Writes interview questions and conducts research; proofs script with News Editor. Producer: Responsible for outreach, gathering resources, scheduling interviews and shoots. Must be organized and good at communication. Technician: Operates all equipment (Camera/Tripod/Mic) during recording; responsible for prepping/practicing with equipment prior to recording interviews, stand-ups, or cover footage. Scouts locations for all recording. Team 3: Sports and Coaches' Corner Reporter: Develops Essential Question and identifies Target Audience for the story. Writes interview questions and conducts research; proofs script with News Editor. Conducts on-air interviews with team coaches for use during broadcast. Producer: Responsible for outreach, gathering resources, scheduling interviews and shoots. Must be organized and good at communication. Technician: Operates all equipment (Camera/Tripod/Mic) during recording; responsible for prepping/practicing with equipment prior to recording interviews, stand-ups, or cover footage. Scouts locations for all recording. Team 4: Senior Experience Reporter: Develops Essential Question and identifies Target Audience for the story.
