I received this email from a local Producer over Spring Break. Let me know if you are interested!
Hello, I hope this email finds you doing well. I wanted to reach out to gauge yours and your student’s interest in a unique video project that the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce is hoping to launch this spring. Every year, the Chamber holds its Armed Forces Banquet to honor and celebrate the military community in our local area. During this year’s 37th annual banquet on Saturday May 21st, the Chamber will present the Steve Schiff Kirtland Air Force Base Advocacy Award, the Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez Veteran of the Year Award, the Kirtland Spouse of the Year Award, as well as honor several outstanding individuals from each branch of the military. The Chamber has traditionally struggled with ways to introduce their military branch honorees in an exciting and unique way as opposed to just reading their bio. In order to honor these outstanding individuals in a way we all feel they deserve, the Chamber is interested in showing introduction videos at the banquet for each of their 8 military branch honorees. The Chamber feels that this would be a great opportunity for middle and high school video teams to get involved, learn about the military groups in our local area, and learn more about creating interesting introduction videos. I have offered my expertise to help create some structure to this project and clearly convey the Chamber’s needs to the students. We have briefly discussed what this would require of the students involved, and believe 2-3 hours of filming plus a few hours of editing would be required to produce these 2-3 minute introduction videos. Their goal is to have final videos ready to go by Friday May 6th. If you and your students are intrigued by this opportunity, please reply to this email and CC Aryn LaBrake at [email protected]. If there is enough interest in this project, we will gather everyone for a quick meeting to discuss logistics. Thank you for your time! -- Phillip Torres Owner/Producer (505)459-7253 [email protected] www.conceptflux.com www.vimeo.com/conceptflux

Interested in an Engineering career? Check out this AWESOME opportunity in Las Cruces this summer! Application deadline is March 31st!
The program is free of charge, and runs June 19-30. Full information at: https://engr.nmsu.edu/nmprep/ NM PREP High School Academy is a two-week summer program that allows students to dig deeper into the fields of engineering through exposure to the engineering design process, applied use of engineering software, advanced manufacturing using 3D printers, and the ability to implement their engineering skills with real world projects. Students will live in the campus dorms, participate in a variety of social and leadership activities, and participate in field trips within the local area. The program is designed for student in Grades 9-11. Space is limited and participants will be selected based on a review of submitted applications. Start downloading your footage---all of it!
Please take a moment to complete this Survey on Student Technology Use: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/65C3MCV Then, come grab a snack! Great work this week! Your teams should be done with interviews no later than Monday 3/14. Plan to use Tuesday to download and review your footage, and make a list of what still needs to be shot. Thursday will be our "pick-up shot" day in the Culinary Arts Lab. This must be carefully planned to maximize our time in the kitchen, since we will be disrupting their schedule.
Second Unit: Plan on using Tuesday and Thursday to get cover footage in the Culinary Arts Lab. Monday 3/7 Prepare for Interviews:
Tuesday 3/8-Monday 3/14 Complete ALL interviews with your Culinary Arts Team. Tuesday 3/1 is our one day this week to put together equipment and rehearse some of our setups and shots. 1st AD's need to create a SHOT LIST today while everyone else on the team is doing this.
2nd Unit will set up lights and run test shots in the Culinary Arts Lab, and determine how we will set up the Interview Set in Chef Young's office. Open the document below to review your Job and Team Assignment for Café Wars. I have created these teams with specific goals, strengths/weaknesses, and opportunities in mind, so NO changes will be made at this time. Your Team will need to meet to come up with a Treatment & Outline for the project, which you will pitch to the Culinary Arts Teams tomorrow morning. Thereafter, you will create a script, storyboard, shot list, audio and lighting plan and shooting schedule by the end of class on Thursday.
Seems like we might have some "gaps" in our knowledge of the Production Hierarchy. I know, I know, it was a looooooong time ago that you studied this with Ms. Kurland. That's okay---we're just doing the abbreviated review to get you up to speed. Easy-peasy 5 points today.
Step 1: Open the Playlist HERE. Grab some headphones. Step 2: Open a new email to me ( [email protected] ) Subject: ProdH In your email, write down each of the jobs below and, after watching just that part of the videos on my playlist, give me a 1-sentence definition for each. That's it. Simple. Drag the playhead to the job you're looking for in the video to speed up the process. Step 3: Send the email. Then go to the Café Wars page to apply for your job. Follow directions there. Here are the JOBS you need to research and define using the videos:
Well, we've got a couple of minutes to "breathe" in our schedule, before we have to jump in to applying for jobs on the Café Wars project, so we'll screen the "Day in the Life" Projects, give each other feedback, and talk about what you liked/disliked about the project.
On my Padlet wall, create a Post with your First and Last Name, and tell me:
